I don’t know how it happens every shopping trip, but somehow I always end up with a bunch of tired, uneaten bananas. Am I the only one? I love bananas, Baby L loves bananas, but somehow there are always more than we can eat. Solution? Avocado Banana Puree!!!!

You really don’t need anything fancy for this recipe. I used 3 tired bananas and 1 large avocado and smushed it up in a bowl! I’m not sure if “smushed” is a word, but I guess I just made it one! 🙂
These ingredients are so soft on their own, that’s why you don’t need to bother with a blender or food processer. Since Baby L is over 8 months old now (excuse me while I go sob in the corner), he needs more texture to his foods anyway.
This recipe made about 9-2 ounce servings (7 to freeze/2 for dinner). I divided up the puree into my Kiddo Feedo tray and popped it into the freezer.
I let it freeze overnight and then transfer to a freezer bag for storage. Homemade baby food can last for up to 3 months in the freezer but it’s best to try and use within a month. Let thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
Cost Breakdown:
1 large Hass avocado = $1.98
3 Bananas @ $0.19/each = $0.57
9 Servings = $0.28 a piece!!!!
Each serving cost $0.28 each. Since Baby L is eating more now he will have 2 of these for a meal, so that still comes out to $0.56 a meal. I’d say that’s not too shabby. 🙂
