Isn’t it funny that we have to clean appliances that clean? Isn’t that it’s job!? š I always think about that whenever I am doing tasks such as these! I used to buy these Tide washing machine packets, but then I decided that I wanted to take a more natural approach and started using this technique.

All you need to do this task is:
- White Vinegar
… and that’s it!
I have a top loading washer but this can be used for front loading washers as well. You will need enough white vinegar to fill up your bleach dispenser (roughly 3/4 cup). If your washing machine doesn’t have a self-cleaning option (like mine), then select the hottest water setting possible on heavy duty wash. To make sure that the vinegar has been completely rinsed from your machine, select the extra rinse option. That’s it!
After the washer has been “washed”, I also like to wipe it down with Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to get rid of any dust and dirt.
I usually get around to cleaning my washing machine once a month. I also like to leave the top to the machine open (when I can remember) after I do a load of clothes to let it air out.
